PMAN is the sole umbrella body of all musicians in Nigeria duly registered and authorized by the Government in the Trade Unions Act to regulate the Practice of the music profession in the country.

The Nigeria music industry is the largest and most vibrant music scene in the whole of Africa. With over 100 million music consumers, scores of recording companies, an army of music marketers, a multitude of media and a never-ending flow of top talent no other market comes close. PMAN is in the foremost advocate and campaigner for artistes’ rights and the music industry in general in the country. You are welcome to inquire, collaborate and work with PMAN for the further advancement of the Nigeria Music Industry.The current administration of PMAN is headed by Mr. Pretty Okafor.

On the 30th of June, 2016; delegates from PMAN chapters from 28 states of Nigeria attended the National Executive Council meeting in Lagos. The first in 30 years! National Delegates conference will be convened on October 4, where fresh elections into various offices of PMAN will take place.

After debates and considerations of issues raised at the meeting, one of the resolution adopted by the Council is that in recognition and observance of the consent Judgment delivered on the 31st October 2014 which established this Out-going Interim National Executive Caretaker Committee of PMAN that stipulated an eighteen months’ tenure period for the executive committee, the judgment further directed the executive to thereafter convene a National Delegates Conference and conduct elections into various offices in PMAN in accordance with the provisions of the PMAN Constitution. Consequent upon the above, Council therefore agreed and resolved that the Interim National Executive Caretaker Committee shall remain in office until its mandate from the said judgment is fully discharged.

While various positions are being contested for in PMAN, the position of President saw only 3 individuals rise up to fight for the seat. These 3 musicians have worked closely with the newly revamped PMAN Interim president, Pretty Okafor. They have contributed massively to the rebranding of the union and its progress so far within the past 18 months when the interim panel of executives was put in place.

RUGGEDMAN

whose real name is Michael Stephens is a graduate of political science from Lagos State University, Ruggedman started exploring music in 1999. He produced his own songs and released two tracks in 1999, both which were well-played on radio. Ruggedman launched himself into the music industry in 1999, eventually becoming the most featured rapper in Nigeria. His albums are all released on his personal label, Rugged Records. Ruggedman has performed worldwide alongside international acts like KC &Jojo, Guru, Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, Akon, Wayne Wonder, Ja Rule, Kevin Little, Maxie Priest, Kanye West, LL Cool J, T-Pain, Nas, and Nelly. He has also worked with and featured many Nigerian and international artists on his albums, including TufaceIdibia, P-Square, 9ice, FlavourN’abania, Josh (from The Tatu Clan of Congo), M.I, Ice Prince, JJC Skillz, Jamaican Stylo G, Niyola, George Nathaniel, Gerelyn,Morell, Da Grin, Chinaydu, Terry G, Mbryo, Funbi, Reminisce and Wande Coal. Ruggedman also owns a clothing line called “20th Sept” Wear, named after his birthday and he is a United Nations Peace .

SUNNY NEJI

is a Perfect Pitch artist. Born on October 24, 1965 in Lagos to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Neji, Sunny, the youngest of five kids (three boys, two girls) had his primary education between 1972 and 1978 in Ogoja, Cross River State, his home town. He completed his secondary education at Government, College, Ikorodu, Lagos in 1984 and proceeded to Yaba college of Technology where he obtained a Diploma in fashion design. Sunny Neji’s active involvement with music began at an early stage. His parents’ love for music and his ol’ man’s collection of classic records provided the initial tonic. As a boy, he participated in cultural performances and steadily developed the talent through the course of his formal education. By 1987, he took his game one step further and ventured into recording earning a reputation in the jungle production scene in no time. 1991 brought the release of his debut album, Captain on EMI.

The debut was slept on but the artiste was undaunted. He joined Colours Band with which he performed as lead singer for five years and inched his way further into the mainstream. He made a grand return to the recording circuit in ’97 with the release of his sophomore set, Mr. Fantastik on GM Intercontinental Records and firmly established himself a bona fide star whose fame stretched from Maiduguri to Bakassi. The album sold hugely and won numerous awards for the artiste who came to be recognized as one of Nigeria’s top all-round artistes.

ZAAKI AZZAY

 The Pioneer of Hiphop Music in Nigeria, Started out his career in 1993. He has successfully carved a niche for himself in the Nigerian Music Industry since the inception of his career and has topped the charts. He has received countless awards and several nomination and is highly respected, from the young to the old across Nigeria and Africa at large. Often referred to as the Hiphop Legend/Veteran by the media, Zaaki Azzay is still holding the game down. Zaaki Azzay as an artiste is largely and easily recognized by his striped black and white head gear and significantly remembered as a torchlight/flashlight bearing artiste. The torchlight symbolizes that Zaaki Azzay is a source of light, positive values and attributes. Zaaki Azzay is strongly affiliated with the mass media for positive and progressive reasons, therefore a brand to associate with in whatever form.
