Nigerian social media users have come for Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung over what they tagged “national blunder.”
Dalung, who was addressing newsmen on why the U-23 football team was yet to leave for Rio, Brazil, referred to the country as United States of Nigeria.
When he was asked to explain why the team was stranded in the US, the Minster said, “Our U-23 team is suffering in the United States of Nigeria.”
The video clips, which is currently trending online has been highly condemned by many Nigerians, who wondered why a federal minister could make such blunder.
An online user, Eteka Ulloh said, “What do you expect from man scout? Even his dress sense says it all.”
Olumide Oluyomi said, “United States of Nigeria! Is this man really a lawyer or actually a comedian?”
Hakeem AFC said, “not to worry, we are now officially an annex of USA as the new United States of Nigeria according to Dalong. USA will pay.”
